Today is Blissful

121116_ll_blog_bliss-002Recently, I was walking my two male Dachshunds as I do most days. I had already walked my Border Collie and two female Dachshunds.  Courtney, the senior girl and self-proclaimed “Queen”, was riding in her “moveable throne or carriage”, otherwise known as a dog stroller.  Since the dogs have access to the backyard via a dog door, the walks are for fun and connection as they often will see neighbors and get some attention, such as pets or kisses; if they’re lucky, they’ll get treats as well.

The walks had gone and were going just about “normal” … lots of start and stops … sniff sniff, pee … sniff, roll in the grass, etc. Celt, the Border Collie who came from Louisiana following Hurricane Katrina,, is not seeing nor hearing so well, plus he has arthritis in his back hips. Acupuncture helps, to a degree.  None of that seems to interfere with his pursuit of finding something to forage from in our walk, whether dropped food or Canadian Goose or cat poop.  Then, he slows down at the second part of the walk while my youngest Dachshund girl, Missy (aka Miss America) is pulling to go faster.

So, here I am …. pushing the throne, lifting Queen Courtney up and down throughout the walk as she demands … keeping Celt from eating whatever, waiting for him to finish his socializing with neighbors … helping Missy to slow down and enjoy the walk … sometimes standing with Missy 16 feet forward pulling me that way, Celt 16 feet behind me, me trying to not pull him … and reminding myself that we’re all out here for “FUN”.

~whew~ I survive the first walk, and start the second after a short break. I don’t usually have this attitude about walking but I really wasn’t feeling well; yet I was “determined” to take them.

The boys were doing their “usual” … each often walking at their own pace which is usually way behind or way ahead of the pace I was at; and often one was walking way behind and one way ahead, with me again in the middle. Camo will run way ahead … and Scoo will start barking at neighbors, other animals, completely enjoying themselves …. and sometimes contributing to “mommy” feeling a bit stressed and crazy.

…. And then in a moment, IT ALL SHIFTED ….

The boys and I were walking down one long stretch, there was a bit of a wind blowing, the temperature was wonderfully in the mid-70s ….

I found myself fully in the present … enjoying the boys enjoying their walk with mommy …. the wind …

At that time, I realized “Today is blissful” …. period.

It didn’t matter that I had a long to-do list, or I hadn’t been physically been feeling very well and earlier had felt like I could just crawl onto the couch and stay there for a while … or that Courtney had just been diagnosed with congestive heart failure and the medication was making her sick … or I had unexpectedly been in the ER and then the hospital a couple of weeks earlier ….. or, that I have long-term bills to pay off ….. … or that my elderly mom (don’t tell her I used that term) has been having health issues and I live 3,000 miles away, etc.

All that mattered ….. all that matters … is that in each and every moment, I can choose bliss.

It really is that simple.  Breathe in bliss …. breathe out bliss.  Live in and from bliss.

Blissfully,

Simple Acts of Spreading Kindness

randomtexts

                  #RandomTextsofKindness

Note: This was written by Colby Hall, Trinity Energy Progression Instructor, the day after the U.S. Presidential elections, Nov ’16… and being posted in mid-December, with the political landscape just as chaotic… and during the end-of-year holiday season, providing stress for many this year; so of course, perfect!)

I had intentionally put off writing this blog until after the election, figuring that I would have lots to write about once the election was over.  But as I was in the shower on Election Day, inspiration struck (as it does so often when I’m in the shower), and I knew I had to write.

There’s something wonderful about a shower. I think it’s the perfect combination of the sound of the rushing water, the white noise from the exhaust fan, and the warmth that the water against your skin provides. Whatever it is, I find that in the shower I often go into a place of stillness and calm where my thoughts flow as easily as the water. So what was the thought today that led to this blog post? It was that I should text my mother and tell her I loved her. It was as simple as that. I thought about how that simple text would make her feel special and cared about, and how I hoped it would warm her up all the way down to her toes. It’s no small thing on my part either; I tend to find love difficult to express and therefore don’t express it nearly enough.

This idea blossomed into another – as my ideas tend to do when I’m in the shower – and I wondered what it would be like if even a small percentage of the population sent a random text to someone they cared about to let them know. It could be something as simple as “Hope you have a great day” or “Thinking of you.” It doesn’t even have to be words. I received a virtual bouquet of flowers from a friend of mine the other day who used a lot of different flower Emoji’s and sent the “bouquet” to me in a text.  Think of how special the recipients of these texts would feel, and then how that might change the way they approached everyone else they encountered in their day.  By one simple, small act, many lives could be changed.

I choose to perpetuate happiness as much as I can, to generate it within myself, and to do what I can for others to find it. I hope that you will join me in this endeavor. Although I am not a big Twitter user, I would love to see this go viral and for lots and lots of people to send a random text of caring to another as often as they feel inspired to do so.   We’ve all heard of random acts of kindness, so I thought I would call this #RandomTextsOfKindness. If even a few lives are brightened, it will be well worth the effort.

Love and Light

loveandlightThe fastest way to be the light
First love yourself with all your might
Then you will know which way to go
Where rewards come from – your heart aglow
White light, pure love – it’s essential
Sweet as it is, pure potential
Feel it now – and then release it
If just for a moment –  what a difference it makes
To love another as we do ourselves
What a precious gift, first to give and then receive
Love and light, yes that’s the key
That’s the way, no You and Me
But to be free, we come to be.

Acceptable Judgment

judgmentPonder that for a moment, maybe longer.

Judging comes in many levels: self-judgment, judging others, being judged, “constructive judging,” and good ‘ole, “not judging.”

We judge ourselves and others by age, gender,  job, homes,  cars, how they dress, speak, and what we feel is appropriate behavior.

For one hour, attempt to not judge at all. Sit in a chair, do not move. Can you do it? Even meditating you may become frustrated with a noise from a neighbor (why can’t they mow their grass earlier in the day?).  Or you may not accomplish meditating as deeply as you usually do, so you judge yourself on not getting to that space of deep meditation.  You think about all you need to get done, you should have had it done by now, or you are not organized or focused enough.

Try going for a walk:  their dog is left out too long, that neighbor should paint their ugly fence, or those people never wave back, they must be crabby…

Then there is the “I am not judging, but…”

We are human. We judge even when we try not to.

What is acceptable judgment?

Pay attention to your heart. Your divine love within you lets you know. Your heart will show you with energy in the moment you are judging.  You can ignore it or even justify it, but your heart always lets you know.  Just pay attention.

The understanding is that we are in constant judgment. We will change what we feel is acceptable judgment on our path to enlightenment; the more we become in a place of love the more we pay attention.

In the meantime, let’s all practice every moment of everyday to judge less.  Let’s honor ourselves and honor others.  We are human. We are here for this great human experience.  It is the story.  Have fun too.

What is your acceptable judgment today?

The Universe Has Our Back: We Are Constantly Being Held…

supportedroadThere have been major shifts that have been occurring that have pushed all of us on the path that we are supposed to be travelling. I know that for myself, I’ve been dragging my feet for some time. I had been standing still for so long that I didn’t know how to take a step forward.  I was terrified to stay in the space I was in, and at the same time terrified of where I was to go.

However, this past summer, all that changed. I experienced the life I so desire and I couldn’t stand still anymore. I know the steps that must be taken in order to live the way I dream… and they aren’t simple. Well, that’s not true. In a way, they are. They’re simple because what they will reveal is my Truth. I’ve been so afraid of accepting this and ashamed of what others would think that I have hidden it for way too long. I have lived a half-life, and I now know that I am worthy of so much more! I will no longer be what someone else wants me to be. I will no longer be something that would make me acceptable to others. I must be exactly who I was created to be… and that has come through so loudly that I can no longer ignore the signs.

This brings me to the title of this entry, for throughout the whole process, I’ve had to overcome enormous amounts of fear and self-doubts. When I thought that I couldn’t possibly dredge up anymore unworthiness, self-doubt, fear, anger, sadness, and loneliness, more would surface. When I felt like I was so alone that I wouldn’t make it through, the Universe was holding me. It was holding me in so many ways and I was oblivious. It hasn’t been until literally within the past few weeks that I’ve received such clarity! A few weeks ago was one of those times where I felt like I was dying, and what happened blew me away. Many of the amazing people that I’m lucky to have in my life stepped forward at exactly the moment I needed them. There is no way I could’ve even thought it out so perfectly. I was so humbled by it and it brought me to my knees. I then started to see how I have been held for so long and I had been blind to it the whole time. Even when circumstances are not what we like, we are being held because it is pushing us to our Truth. Now, I can see the love in every little thing. I see it when the perfect person reaches out to me at just the right moment. When I hear the perfect song plays on the radio. When I’m driving by and the sun is shining at just the right angle. I see it when I receive and listen to the perfect guidance – I’ve been getting better at that one! What a gift!  I see it when I know that I am at the perfect job at this moment, for it is providing exactly what I need. I feel it when the perfect bite of food nourishes me. I see it when a stranger gives me a smile. I see it when I sit with myself and am amazed at who I am finally revealing myself to be. The Universe has our back at every moment of every day… from the most minute ways to the ones that blow our minds. I have no words to express how grateful and humbled I am by this love. All I can say over and over again is, “Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”
